My name is Hovhannes “John” Matossian and I am a senior manufacturing engineer. I have over 40 years of diverse hands on experience, 30 of which were directly related to manufacturing/automation engineering and design. The following is a brief summary of my core engineering education and work history.
In 1973 I was employed at KALM Tool Engineering & Company in Chicago Illinois. I was responsible for fabrication of progressive, compound, blank and pierce dies, gages, and jig and fixtures. During my time there I attended the Tool & Die Institute of Chicago to help sharpen my skills in the field.
In 1978, I relocated to California where I began working for NI Industries’ Norris Division in Vernon, CA. For the next seven years, I carried out a myriad of functions. Primarily I was responsible the development of tooling concepts and techniques to maximize production effectiveness more specifically for the design and implementation of tools and various manufacturing processes for the production of cartridge cases, projectiles, and other defense products.
In 1985, I was promoted to Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Although the breadth and depth of my managerial duties were not altered much, the scope of my responsibilities served the company on a much more macro level as I now looked at hypothesizing, designing, and implementing manufacturing processes for military defense ammunition and commercial products.
I remained at Norris until the plant closure in 1995, when the military defense contract ended. At that time I was then transferred back to the Midwest to the Detroit based firm MascoTech. MascoTech which later branched off into many divisions and sub companies was bought out by Metaldyne and later by FormTech. I was employed at FormTech, through December of 2008.
My core responsibility was automation and efficiency manager. In addition to the many duties at the stamping and forging plant, I was also responsible for managing a team of 6 automation design engineers. My main job description required the designing and building of a number of automation inspection machines but I was also responsible for troubleshooting various problem areas within production, more specifically efficiency.
However, in this time of uncertainty and consternation, I have found an opportunity to offer my expertise to all companies of any size my services in design, implementation, and evaluation. My improvements in efficiency are well documented as I have improved processes all along the way from my days at NI Industries to my final days at FormTech.
In summary, between the 10 years of Tool & Die making and the 30 plus years in various engineering roles, this diverse expansive experience has provided me with a solid broad based understanding of streamlined operation and production support processes. I am efficient, organized and detail oriented. I have an excellent track record of completing projects on time, within budget and to the client’s total satisfaction. I am also accustomed to working under extreme pressure and handling multiple projects at once.
